Andrew Bird and Iron & Wine

Illinois singer-songwriter Andrew Bird’s frequently toured with North Carolina Americana act Sam Beam, aka Iron & Wine, and usually included one duet at the end of each concert. That soon grew into a four-song joint set performed for NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series, and now a full co-headlining tour. Bird’s Inside Problems album was released in June. Iron & Wine’s newest, Archive Series Volume No. 5, features songs recorded in 1998.

Brains And Brews On The Bay

In honor of San Diego Design Week, an interactive design trivia happy hour for other design and marketing professionals in the San Diego community. A custom trivia app will be designed and built for visitors to test their design knowledge to win prizes. There will be free food and drinks.

Solento Surf Festival

Four-day festival takes place at the historic La Paloma Theatre and Seaside Reef. Lineup of film premieres, panel conversations, live music, and surf competitions. On September 25, surfers showcase their abilities on four fin set-ups. “Fire Versus Water”: North County’s lifeguard and firefighter surfers go head-to-head in a tag team competition. “The Party Wave”: winner will be selected to surf on Mick Fanning’s Team. Winner will get to ride a Mick Fanning soft top that they get to take home.
