I’m a bartender – there’s a list of drinks customers should never order from dairy-based cocktails to sangria

A BARTENDER issued a warning on the list of drinks customers should avoid, including dairy-based cocktails to sangria.

TikTok user @shellycantsitwithus has been a bartender for over 19 years and has learned many lessons during that time, sharing stories with her over 340,000 followers.

Shelly took part in a trend where bartenders talk about things they would never do if they went drinking at a bar.

“These are all based on my personal experiences,” Shelly said

“If you wanna fight with me in the comments, I don’t care. This is my experience. Enjoy.”

Shelly said to be wary of where you order drinks, especially establishments that batch their cocktails, said Shelly.

“For example, if you go to a place and they have 25 to 30 something margaritas that they make are all different flavors,” she said.

“Typically those margaritas are made in a big old batch in an oxygen tube-looking thing that rarely ever gets cleaned in the back.”

She says that if the bar advertises that the margarita is a Patron one, all they have to do is “add one bottle of Patron to the entire batch.”

“Outside of the fact that they probably don’t ever clean the tubes that they make the batches in,” she added.

If you’re a fan of putting the fruit that comes on the side of your glass into your drink, Shelly advises thinking twice before doing it.

“A lot of people will be like ‘well, Shelly I’m drinking alcohol and alcohol will sanitize it,’”

Shelly said it’s not going to sanitize anything.

“Did you see the dirty rag that your bartender just picked up to wipe off the bar in front of you?

“And then they picked up that piece of fruit to put in your drink?” she asks with a laugh.

She explains that she was a bartender who obsessively washed her hands but that others wouldn’t do the same.

“I won’t lie, I’ll still put my lime in my tequila sometimes. Even though I know better.”

If you’re a fan of cocktails with dairy in them, Shelly said you should be afraid of where you’re ordering them from.

“I love me a White Russian, but let’s be honest about how much bartenders will keep up with the expiration dates on things?”

Shelly said this came from personal experience as she has gotten sick from a dairy cocktail that she made herself.

If you’re drinking sangria instead, Shelly gave a big warning about the drink as, like margaritas, sangrias are made in a batch.

“And a lot of the times, dates are not put on those things and sangria can go bad,” she said.

Shelly added that it’s hard to tell when the drink goes bad because sangria is fermented.

Her video received thousands of comments with other people sharing their experiences.

“Not a former bartender but a former barista,” wrote one person. “Rude people get decaf, even if they pay for extra shots.”

“I don’t request lemon for my water…the lemons are NEVER washed!” wrote another.
