Law roundup: Woman steals a morning moment for wine time


A woman with a shaved head stepped out in black slippers and into a store Tuesday morning where she reportedly stole a salad, wine and an extra-large soda, sat down at a table and proceeded to eat.

A silver Ford Super Duty truck allegedly spun out and threw gravel at a construction crew working on the Rails to Trails project.

A man sitting at a park and “drinking a soda or something,” reportedly made a woman uncomfortable enough to call the Kalispell Police Department from her son’s residence. She would not tell dispatchers what, if anything, he had done or was doing, to make her feel that way and he had not approached or attempted to speak to her or anyone else. Despite being advised it was a public park and he was OK to be there if he wasn’t doing anything wrong, she wanted police to drive through the area.

A raccoon found its way into a woman’s car. She was given a phone number where she could get help removing it, yet she still wanted an officer to check on her to make sure she found someone to handle it. The raccoon was taken care of.

A manager was having issues with multiple people camping in the parking lot and “no overnight parking” signs being torn down repeatedly and they wanted law enforcement to remove a white minivan and a champagne-colored vehicle with a smashed rear end.

A manager at another location reported a red truck that was missing its front grill, or bumper, racing around the parking lot. The manager told police the same pickup nearly hit a pedestrian a couple of nights ago and asked officers to move it along and ban it from returning.

A woman was allegedly trying to coax a possibly intoxicated man, who had difficulty walking, into a vehicle.

Someone claimed a woman was screaming and hitting kids, who they thought were living in a van and SUV, but later elaborated that they didn’t actually see her hitting the kids, just raising her hand and the youths wincing.

Officers checked a woman lying on the ground who said she tripped but was OK.

Someone broke into and damaged a locked post office box.

Officers made contact with someone who was cleaning spray paint related to a previous criminal mischief call.

Officers received more complaints about graffiti.

Three people were warned about violating the panhandling ordinance.

A vehicle parked in a handicapped-designated space was stickered when it didn’t have a proper placard visible.

An employee was concerned about what to do with “transient bags” left on the property.
