•Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2013, Old Forester The 117 Series Warehouse K, and newcomers from Parker’s Heritage and Little Book are among the offerings featured in Whisky Advocate’s latest weekly roundup. The magazine’s website has all the details.

•Louisville, Kentucky’s Michter’s Distillery has announced the return of its Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon after a three-year absence. The 2021 iteration will hit shelves in September and is made by taking Michter’s Bourbon—which is aged for an undisclosed amount of time—and finishing it in barrels made from toasted, air-dried wood. On release, Michter’s Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon will carry a suggested price of $100 a 750-ml.

•Argentina’s Kaiken Wines is introducing Kaiken Aventura, a new collection of luxury Malbecs. Retailing at $32 a bottle, the new wines are sourced from the unexplored terroir of Los Chacayes and Valle de Canota regions. Debuting in California this summer, handled by Kimberly Jones Wine Selections, the collection includes Kaiken Aventura Los Chacayes Sur Malbec, Los Chacayes Norte Malbec, and Valle de Canota Malbec. Kaiken is part of the Montes Wines portfolio.

•Artesa Vineyards & Winery has expanded its portfolio with a new Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from vineyards across the AVA, including from the region’s mountains and the valley floor. It’s at 14.2% abv and is now available nationally for around $40 a 750-ml. Artesa is part of the Raventós Codorníu portfolio.

•International shipping company DHL has bolstered its position in the beverage alcohol logistics market by acquiring J.F. Hillebrand Group AG for roughly $1.8 billion. The deal will improve DHL’s presence in the world of alcohol shipping, as Hildebrand handles shipping and logistics for companies like AB InBev, Treasury Wine Estates, and Campari Group, among others. Shipping and logistics have proved challenging for importers and exporters during the pandemic, with many players facing disruptions in efficiently bringing their offerings to market.
