AMBRIDGE — Think you can make a good batch of beer or wine?

If so, then prove it, by taking part in the 11th Annual Crush and Brew Tasting Event on Sept. 18, hosted by the Ambridge Historic District.

The 6:30 p.m. event features tasting and judging of homemade wines and homebrew beers. Beers and wines will compete for prizes. Entries receive a free admission ticket to the event.

Altered Genius Brewing Co., a microbrewery in Ambridge, will judge the beers and sponsor the First Place Beer Prize. The winner will collaborate with the craft brewery to scale the recipe and offer it on tap at its Merchant Street location. Additional prizes include gift cards and merchandise from Fermata Brew Co., slated to open later this year in Ambridge, and More Flavor, the largest supplier of homebrewing and winemaking supplies.

Wines will be judged by Kevin Ostrowski from the Beaver County Chapter of the American Wine Society. Prizes include an imported wine package with pairing ideas for a DIY tasting at home, gift cards to regional wineries and More Flavor.

Live music by Pittsburgh blues singer Miss Freddye, food trucks, raffles, tasting and voting round out the fun.

It’s free to register your beer or wine by emailing historicdistrict@gmail.com or calling or texting 412-855-0511 or 724-513-4668.

General public tickets will be $25 in advance, $30 at the door.

The outdoor event will be held on Church Street in Ambridge.

Proceeds benefit economic development and bicentennial efforts in the district.
