No Cars & Coffee in Bethlehem, but there will be monster trucks and drag racing nearby (UPDATE)

Organizers of Cars & Coffee Lehigh Valley broke the news this week that, despite hopes of restarting monthly car shows this summer, the series won’t return this year to Bethlehem.

“For 2021, we had hoped to be able to begin hosting Cars and Coffee events at SteelStacks, but the post-COVID challenges, of which there are several, make these events something we are unable to take on at this time,” they wrote on Facebook. “Our goal is to be able to re-launch for the 2022 season and come back better than ever.”

Fret not, motorheads: There are still a lot of activities to check out this summer, including several events over the next week.

That includes what’s being billed as a Cars & Coffee Lehigh Valley meet at 7 a.m. Sunday at 555 Union Blvd. in Allentown. This free show appears to be promoted on a different Facebook account than the Bethlehem Cars & Coffee one, with the Allentown show listed as presented by Lehigh Valley Car Meets And Car Shows and sponsored by the Executive Education Academy Charter School at that address.

Also this weekend, Monster Truckz is bringing monster truck competitions, rides and more to the Allentown Fairgrounds, Friday night through Sunday. Visit this Facebook page for more information.

Saturday was slated as Easton’s first city cruise night of 2021, after the June event was rained out, but the city on Friday canceled the July one as well due to thunderstorms in the forecast. The free event is next scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 21 in Centre Square with music by the Strictly 60s.

Next week’s return of the Plainfield Farmers Fair features tractor and truck pulls, along with a demolition derby, followed by similar mud-splattering fun at the Warren County Farmers Fair that gets under way July 31.

Also in Warren County, Island Dragway in Great Meadows is gearing up for its 61st anniversary “Funny Car Throwdown” on Aug. 8, but first up is the “Team Texas Takeover!” the evening of Wednesday, July 21. Visit facebook.com/IslandDragway for more information.

In addition, next month marks the return of the Wheels of Time Rod and Custom Jamboree in Macungie, celebrating its 42nd year Aug. 27-29. Follow the event on Facebook for complete details.

Editor’s note: This article was updated to reflect a Cars & Coffee Lehigh Valley event scheduled in Allentown and the cancellation of Easton’s Cruise Night on Saturday, July 17.
