Letter: In defence of cheese and wine Covid office parties

I am fortunate in that I am able to work from home. Some of us cannot. My colleagues who are obliged to attend the office to fulfil their functions put themselves at risk taking public transport and mixing with people outside their home environment.

If, as Christmas approaches, they choose to have cheese and wine one day at the office, I see no reason to criticise their choice (“Johnson under fire over lockdown Christmas party claims”, Report, December 9).

In fact I thank them for doing their job in difficult circumstances.
