There are few things in this world I love more than red wine. If I had to choose three things to take with me to a deserted island, it would definitely make the list. And thankfully, here in Washington, we appreciate the gift that is wine. I mean, have you visited Woodinville or Walla Walla? While every day may be red wine day in my heart, there is only one National Red Wine Day, and it just happens to be August 28. Here are some places to celebrate in the Seattle area:

A perfectly poured glass of wine. For many, it is the ideal accompaniment to an evening spent with family and friends. Such is the case at Footprint Wine Tap on Capitol Hill, though there is something notable that sets each of its perfectly poured glasses apart. They come from a keg!

“We are really trying to change the perspective a little bit on how you enjoy a glass of wine,” said Ken Dillon, owner of Footprint Wine Tap. “We like to say we’re thinking outside the bottle.”

According to Dillon, Footprint is Seattle’s first and only keg wine on tap bar. Here the focus is on two things, showcasing local producers and sustainability. By simply serving wine on tap, Ken tells me Footprint is able to reduce its carbon footprint by about 90% while at the same time ensuring each pour is consistent, affordable and, most importantly, tasty.
