Whisky experts praise Still Game pair’s Jack and Victor dram as the drink goes global

WHISKY experts are raving about the new Jack and Victor dram – as it gets shipped across the world.

Blair Bowman, who is a consultant on our national drink – tried the Still Game pair’s tipple at the request of The Scottish Sun on Sunday and he gave it a firm thumbs up.

Dram lovers across the globe can taste the blend – crafted at the Loch Lomond Distillery – for the first time this month after makers Jack and Victor Limited made it available for export.

And Blair, of Edinburgh, reckons it will go down a treat.

He said: “It’s very enjoyable with excellent balance. The perfect dram for a wee hauf n’ hauf in The Clansman.”

The drinks expert said the show’s popular character, landlord Boaby the Barman, would be proud to serve it in the fictional Craiglang pub.

He added: “I think so. If they could do a big large bottle, stick it on the optics, I think it’s someone everyone in the Clansman would drink.”

And he said the show’s frugal figure Tam might be the only one to baulk at the £35 price tag.

“It’s great bang for buck too as I know Jack and Victor can be a bit tight sometimes. I think Tam is maybe a bit too tight to pay £35 for a bottle.

“I think the other boys would sometimes treat themselves and splash out a wee bit for something special.

“I think they would scrape together and split a bottle maybe.”

And he reckons the dram might have an international appeal – and could even attract new fans to the show.

He added: “I think, even if people had never seen the show, it’s got a simple brand label and packaging.

“Even if you had no idea what Still Game was, or you had never seen the show and saw it on the shelf in America, maybe in Asia as well, you would notice it’s a Scottish whisky.

“Scottish whisky just has this intrinsic connection of being a very high quality product anyway.

“You would see the price and think ‘I’ll give that a shot’.

“It would be quite funny if people got into Still Game because they tried the whisky first.”

WHISKY GOES GLOBAL

The Jack and Victor Whisky went back on sale earlier this month after selling out in just 36 hours when it was first launched in May.

This time around, bottles can be bought by ex-pat fans of the pair around the world, or here in the UK with the option to ship to family and friends abroad.

Alongside a new batch of the scotch, fans can now also pick up a pair of exclusive Jack and Victor whisky glasses to share a glass with their own best pal.

The new release of bottles, which went on sale at www.jackandvictor.com, are available to fans and whisky drinkers living in the UK, certain US states, Canada, Ireland, Australia.
