Dao white by Lucia Ferreira a blend of unfamiliar grapes

2018 Dao white by Lucia Ferreira

Price: $18.99

Availability: Gentile’s Wine Sellers

Aroma: Complex minerality and white grapes

Flavor: A mix of tastes that are difficult to describe (because none of them dominate) but easy to enjoy with a huge range of foods.

Notes: This is one of the first wines being introduced to the Columbus market from the portfolio of the increasingly prominent negociant and importer Mary Taylor. Avoiding grape names on the front label in favor of the more meaningful geographic appellations, Taylor is developing a cult following for her selections, which aim to show the territorial origins of each one. This full-bodied white, from the Portuguese region of the same name, is a blend of grapes most of us have never tasted, let alone heard of (25% Encruzado, 32% Malvasia Fina, 19% Bicoal, and 14% Gouveio).
