Weather forces Mall beer and wine festival to be rescheduled for September

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Inclement weather predictions for this weekend quashed the plan for the 2021 Staten Island Summer Beer, Wine, & Spirits Festival. The event has been postponed until Saturday, Sept. 25.

Organizer Evan Berman said, “Due to the projected forecast of rain throughout the entire afternoon and evening of Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, the organizers in consultation with the venue have decided to reschedule the festival to Saturday Sept. 25, 2021. All purchased tickets will be valid for the updated event date and the session times will remain the same.”

Those time frames are 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Berman added, “The postponed date will ensure all attendees achieve the best experience.”

Tickets are still available online for the updated event date. As promised for this weekend’s fete, the rescheduled festival will feature more than 100 styles of unlimited beer, wine and spirits for the duration of each session. Live music will be the backdrop throughout the day and is set for the Mall Courtyard next to Shake Shack — 2655 Richmond Ave., New Springville. The venue can hold up to 500 guests per time slot.

Long Island-based Evan Berman Productions expect reps of local and international beers, wines and spirits in September. Some of the attendees will include Vino Di Vino Winery of Staten Island and Kas Spirits of New York. From afar, there will be Babe Wines, The Long Drink, 902 Brewing, Codigo 1530, Root Out Whiskey, Swiss Mojito, Chinola Liqueur, Nest Vodka and more. The growing list of breweries, distillers, and wineries may be viewed at Summerfestusa.com

Food will be available for purchase. Headlining chefs include Chavas Empanadas and Mozzarepas.

General admission tickets range from $50 to $60 plus tax and a processing fee but there are savings for early bird purchases. Attendees also can get a $20 discount with the promo code SISAVE20 at Eventbrite.com/e/161536647461/?discount=SISAVE20. All participants will receive a keepsake glass for sampling.

The festival is considered an educational presentation with interaction anticipated from the producers themselves. It also is a 21 and older event — no children will be admitted — and ID must be shown at the entrance. There are some restrictions: dogs, outside food and drink, large bags and knapsacks are not permitted. Designated drivers are able to score a $15 ticket. Designated drivers, like everyone else, must be at least 21. For more information contact the organizers at marketing@evanbermanproductions.com
