Denver Beer Co.’s birthday bash
Saturday. The esteemed Denver Beer Co. is turning 10 years old and inviting beer drinkers to its birthday party this weekend at the Highland taproom. Stop by from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, to enjoy live music, food truck grub, limited-edition merch and, of course, some special releases. The brewery’s 10th anniversary brew is an imperial porter with raspberries and graham crackers, an ode to DBC staples Princess Yum Yum and Graham Cracker Porter, which will be sold in bombers. The party is free to attend and, yes, there will be cake. 1695 Platte St. denverbeerco.com — Tiney Ricciardi
Fair pay drives U.S. Women’s soccer doc
Fans of soccer stars Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan and Lindsey Horan will find it worthwhile to visit Colorado Springs this weekend to see “LFG,” a documentary film on the U.S. Women’s National Team’s pay discrimination dispute with the U.S. Soccer Federation.
“LFG,” an acronym for “Let’s (Expletive) Go,” will be shown as part of the Rocky Mountain Women’s Film summer drive-in series. Lawyers for players on the Women’s National Team filed suit against USSF in 2019, claiming pay discrimination. A California judge dismissed the suit in May 2020, but the players filed an appeal last month while the team was playing in the Tokyo Olympics.
Screenings take place at the former Gazette Building just east of downtown Colorado Springs on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 20-21, with the parking lot opening at 7 p.m. and the film starting at 8 p.m. $30 per car, free popcorn. Tailgating is encouraged. 704 E. Colorado Ave. in Colorado Springs. rmwfilm.org — John Meyer
